540 Club
This is one of the best places to hang out after work, unwind, mix it up on weekends and just enjoy yourself. Its not a pick up bar, but a friendly bar. From the outside it looks like a dive bar, but its not. Its eclectic, fun, hip, and funky, but always lowkey.

Alpha Bar
Alpha can be poppin if the bar is hosted by a big event promoter. Otherwise, its just a typical bar in the SF Richmond. Cheap drinks. Not bad.

Element Lounge
Element Lounge is a great place for good music and dancing. Smaller and more intimate than a full blown club, without a pretentious attitude. The hip hop / breakdancing night is really fun, as well as many of the other special events featured.

Ha Ra
Recently featured in Noir City Eddie Mullers SF Chronicle book review, the Ha Ra Club is what a true Frisco bar used to be. No syrupy drinks, no gardenia floating in frothy bowls (with two straws). Just scotch, bourbon, gin, a pint of Bass, Sierra Pale or Guinness.

Pig & Whistle

Reminds me of being in London. This place has great beers on tap, Old Speckled Hen I mean come on. Pool table in back that is usually available and darts. My favorite neighborhood bar.

Plough and Stars

Fun local bar with some great live acts upstairs. Take time to look in the corner of the upper room, where all the bands who have played are listed. makes for an entertaining read if your date is less than interesting.
